Bound by Life

Unique artists book, 46 pages (A3), graphite, crayon, pastel, oil paint, collage stamping, dated October 2008.  I often consider these large works ‘the glory days’ of book making.  When one begins making books, the energy and creativity which accompanies this new found passion is ungovernable, as is the excitement of collaboration.   

Lesley has been a long-time friend, always willing to tackle odd projects (as mine tend to be).  Her comment, way back then was that my work was always ‘dark’ and this book was a conversation between my gloomy and pessimistic images and her beautiful pencil and collage images, lightly executed to create an interesting dialogue between medium and message.
